CBD is short for cannabidiol. One of the many chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant.
THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is the most well known cannabinoid compound because of it’s psychoactive properties. It’s the one compound that gets you “high.”
CBD (Cannabidiol) is a non psychoactive cannabinoid compound and will not get you “high.”
This means taking CBD allows you to take full advantage of all the health benefits without the effect of “feeling stoned.”
CBD oil is a versatile supplement that many people are adding to their general lifestyle to enhance their overall well being. And many more people are using CBD for a variety of other reasons too, such as:-
Despite research and evidence, it is important to remember, CBD is not an officially approved drug. It is classified and sold as a dietary supplement.
As CBD is a cannabinoid, it interacts with the human body’s own endocannabinoid system (ECS). Everybody has one. This system contains receptors (CB1 & CB2) and neurotransmitters and is designed to maintain homeostasis (in other words, keep your body in balance and stability).
Cannabinoids activate the body’s cannabinoid receptors and tell your body to feel a certain way and do certain things. They also regulate and affect the way all the other systems function, like the immune system, the nervous system and the digestive systems.
The correct dosage depends on each individual. CBD products will vary in terms of concentration. It is always best to start with a lower dose and work your way up to a level that you are comfortable with. Positive effects could be felt after the first use or after several uses. If no effects are felt, you may need to increase the dose or strength to reach the desired results. A person’s weight can play a role in how much or how little the CBD will affect their body.
Don’t mistake Hemp seed oil for CBD oil!
Hemp seed oils have been available online and in health shops for many years and are sold because they contain certain fats like omega 3 and omega 6. They only contain trace amounts of cannabinoids and they are taken for completely different reasons to taking CBD. The Hemp oil is extracted from the hemp seeds by simply cold pressing the seeds.
